Prepare for your next job interview by creating a visual resume that showcases your photo, video and design work. You can use Adobe Portfolio — Adobe’s portfolio website application, free with Adobe Creative Cloud.

Building up your visual resume between class work, freelance gigs and summer internships takes years — likely your entire college career — but it only takes a short amount of time to put your photo, video and design work together in an online visual resume with Adobe Portfolio. Using Adobe Portfolio, you can organize your visual work in an easy-to-use website to show off to future employers.

How to Create a Visual Resume for Your Internship

  1. Create a new site.
Start by creating a new site on the Portfolio homepage. Choose to begin with a Collection of Work or a Welcome page. Then, select a theme from the various options provided. Adobe Portfolio has several themes designed specifically for visual artists to amplify your visual resume.
You can always change the theme later if the one you choose doesn’t work for you.
  2. Add a page for each type of visual work.
To organize your visual resume, create a section for each type of visual work you do. This can be design, photography, videography, art, and much more. Separating your visual resume into sections can make it easier for potential employers to discover your range of talent.
  3. Add an About Me or Contact page.
When creating your visual resume, it’s important to keep some of the same elements as a traditional resume. An About Me or Contact page can help your potential employers discover more about you, such as your educational background, awards and recognitions, and previous visual experience. Be sure to include your email address or another contact method so your potential employers can contact you for work.
  4. Personalize your visual resume.
Adobe Portfolio makes it easy to change the background, colors, fonts and logos used throughout your visual resume. You can also change the site domain, add Google Analytics tracking, create social media preview icons, and much more. Personalize your visual resume as much as you want to create the best visual resume possible.
  5. Publish and share your finished resume.
Once you’re finished, simply publish your visual resume website. Then, you can share the website on your job applications, with future employers, or with friends and family.

Whenever you create new visual work, simply log back onto the Portfolio homepage to update your visual resume. Your visual resume should grow as you grow as a visual artist.
